The man who owns the place was as friendly as he could be and very helpful with any questions you had. The coffee and cappuccino were very good. If you are looking for a great breakfast bar, the oatbar with jam was "excellent!!"

Okay just tried Montwood for the first time and I am definitely going back. I'm a new Convert. please join me there. It is giving such beautiful Pure Clean Energy with restorative peaceful fun Vibes it has an open layout with such nurturing attention to detail: restored and repurposed chairs and, planted life and thrifted decor. The owners are delightful friendly and life-affirming souls. I enjoyed their presence and the plants' company in this gorgeous quiet space. Oh and also by the way they have great coffee and baked goods! I had an iced honey latte and an apricot jam crumble bar! Simply delightful! Can't wait to have more homework to go back soon. If you just need a space to retreat and breathe deeply go here to enjoy a cup of bliss. It may be right downtown smack dab in the middle of everything but it is certainly an oasis of coffee and space that feeds the soul. Also super reasonable. They run me up and I thought maybe they had forgotten half my order. Love that for me and you.

Montwood Café is hands-down one of the best coffee shops in Durham. My wife and I were lucky enough to be their very first customers on opening day, and it honestly felt special from the moment we walked in. My wife ordered a matcha, and I got a cortado. Both were absolutely perfect. You can tell right away that they care about quality, presentation, and creating an experience that feels warm and welcoming. As a designer, I really appreciated the attention to detail in the interior. The space is completely on point. It has that cozy coffee shop feeling that makes you want to sit down, relax, and stay awhile. From the beautiful tile to the wooden bar and the ceiling paint, every detail works together and makes the space feel intentional and inviting. It really does make you feel right at home. I’m also a big fan of natural light, and this coffee shop has a ton of it, which makes the whole space feel bright, comfortable, and full of energy. Another huge plus is that they are pup friendly, which is always great to see in a neighborhood coffee shop. But what really makes Montwood Café stand out is the people behind it.
